CHOCOLATE & GINGER TARTS

Add a chocolatey twist to a Christmas classic with this chocolatey tart recipe! Delight your family and friends with this sweet treat this festive season.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup Tasti Fruit Mince

1/4 cup Tasti Ready to Eat Dates (chopped)

1/2 cup Tasti Slivered Almonds

1/2 cup Tasti Crystallised Ginger

2 tsps Tasti Mixed Peel

1/3 cup maple syrup

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/3 cup brandy

1 tsp mixed spice

2100g dark chocolate, chopped

Milk or egg for brushing

Icing to dust


*1 packet store bought short crust pastry


METHOD

1. Place fruit mince, dates, almonds, ginger, maple syrup, sugar, brandy, mixed spice and mixed peel in a medium saucepan over medium heat and cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the liquid has been absorbed. Set aside to cool completely.


2. Add the chocolate and mix to combine.


3. Preheat oven to 160ºC. Using a 7.5cm round cutter, cut out 12 rounds from premade pastry to line greased patty tins. Divide the fruit filling between the cases. Using a 6cm round cutter, cut out 12 rounds from premade pastry. Using assorted shaped cutters, cut out shapes from the rounds. Brush with milk or egg wash and cook for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Dust with icing sugar to serve.
